Organ recital at St. John’s Church, East Dulwich – July 13th, 2024

On Saturday, July 13th. the regular recital pattern at St. John’s changed, as three people shared in the programme.   SSLSO members Sarah Best and Mark Baker played, as did Callum Orr, who studies with John Webber and plans to join the Society!

Mark started the programme with:

  • Paean – Philip Moore
  • Elegy – George Thalben-Ball
  • “In Dir ist Freude” (BWV 615) – J S Bach

Callum then played:

  • No.8 of “Twelve Short Pieces” – Samuel Wesley
  • Voluntary No.2 in G minor – William Alcock
  • Adagio for Concerto in A minor (BWV 593) – Antonio Vivaldi, transcribed by Bach
  • Prelude from “Eight Short Preludes and Fugues” (BWV 554) – Bach

Sarah concluded by playing:

  • Festal Bells – John Rutter
  • Andante Cantabile from Symphony No.4 – Charles-Marie Widor
  • Toccatina for Flutes – Pietro Yon
  • Recit de Nazard from Suite du Deuxieme Ton – Louis-Nicolas Clerambault
  • Toccata on “All gory, laud and honour” – Michael Burkhardt

Over thirty people came to listen and showed their appreciation in the usual way.
