Visit to Church of the Most Precious Blood (Borough) and St Peter’s, Vauxhall, 9th November 2024

On 9th November 2024 we shall be visiting two Lewis organs in South London. The itinerary is as follows:

  • 11.15-1.15pm Visit to Church of the Most Precious Blood in O’Meara Street, Borough, London SE1 1TE (npor)

On leaving London Bridge station head toward Borough High Street and turn left and cross the road as soon as possible. Take the next RH turn which is Southwark Street. Again, cross the road as soon as possible and continue along Southwark Street on the left side and pass under the railway bridge. Soon after, turn left on to O’Meara Street. Pass under the railway and the church is on the left. about 7-8 minutes walk from the station.

  • 2.30-4.30pm Visit to St Peter’s Vauxhall, 310 Kennington Lane, London SE11 5HY (npor)

The easiest option is by bus. Turn right out of The Most Precious Blood and return to Southwark Street. Turn left on to Southwark Street and soon after turn left on to Southwark Bridge Road. There is a bus stop almost immediately BUT it is hidden by a street notice for cyclists! Bus 344 to Clapham Junction runs every 7-10 minutes. Get off the bus at the stop Vauxhall Cross. It’s about a 20-25 minute ride. Walk in the direction of travel and take the first left and walk through under the railway arches. Keep straight on and you will see the Royal Vauxhall Tavern followed by the entrance to the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. This is Kennington Lane. On the right side of the road is St Anne’s, Roman Catholic church. Keep going for another 60 yards and St Peter’s is on the left. It is about 5 minutes walk from the bus stop. We are due at St Peter’s for 2.30pm where we will be met by Mr Will Fraser the organist.
