You are welcome to attend our biennial Education Day for student organists in St John’s Church, Goose Green, East Dulwich, on Saturday 18 April, starting at 2.30 pm.

The organists have all been awarded bursaries for an initial course of organ lessons, and this is an opportunity for them to perform a piece in public, and to hear supportive comments from a distinguished guest organist.

Our guest organist on this occasion is David Pipe, a former cathedral organist and currently Editor of Organists’ Review. David will begin the afternoon by giving a short recital of music by J.S.Bach, Buxtehude and Franz Danksagmüller. The student organists will then play their pieces, with comments from David – which will be heard by the audience via the church’s PA system.

Finally, certificates will be awarded to the organists to mark this important milestone in their organ studies. We look forward to welcoming you all to this wonderful celebration of organ-playing, together with your families and friends. Admission is free.

Recital Programme

  • Franz Danksagmüller – Estampie
  • J. S. Bach – Air (Suite No. 3 in D)
  • Buxtehude – Praeludium in G minor, BuxWV 149
