Trip to Thaxted and Saffron Walden, June 5th, 2021

Saturday June 5th saw the society’s first in person event for quite some time, so it was pleasing to see 15 or so members meet up at Thaxted Parish Church for the 10am start.  We were welcomed by Ann Pickhaver, followed by a demonstration of the Lincoln Organ by the Organist, Christopher Bayston.  Members then had an opportunity to play.  We then took a short walk to Thaxted United Reformed Church, to see and play the early Conacher Organ.

After lunch in Thaxted, we drove to Saffron Walden, around 15 miles away, where we were met at St. Mary’s Church by the Organist & Director of Music, Oli King and Peter De Vile, organ builder. Following a demonstration of the organ members were invited to play.
